This Didn’t Start With a Product

It would be easier to say this started with an idea.

Or a design.
Or something we wanted to make better.

But it didn’t.

It started with something less clear.

Something that didn’t quite fit
into how things were usually explained.

A moment that didn’t resolve.
A state that didn’t make sense.

Not enough to call it a problem.
But enough to feel that something was off.

At first, we tried to understand it
the way most things are understood.

Through behaviour.
Through function.
Through what could be adjusted or improved.

But none of it fully explained what we were seeing.

It was a condition that hadn’t been named.

And once that became clear,

the direction changed.

Not towards a solution,
but towards understanding.

Not what to add,
but what was already there.

Not how to fix it,
but what allows it to settle.

That was where everything began to take shape.

Slowly.
Quietly.

Without needing to declare itself.

A product came later.

Not as the starting point.
But as a response.

Something that could exist within that understanding.
Something that could carry it.

Not to change behaviour.

Not to force an outcome.

But to be part of the condition
the body responds to.

It begins long before that.

Sometimes what matters most is not what we create, but what we begin to notice.

And from there, everything else follows.
