Today I captured a moment that made me rethink something about cats.

My cat wasn’t playing.

Wasn’t asking for attention.

Wasn’t reacting to anything.

Just... there.

We often interpret stillness as boredom.

But stillness is not always emptiness.


Cats do not rely on constant stimulation the way humans do.

What looks like boredom may actually be a state of calm and stability.


In these quiet moments, they are not waiting.

They are simply existing within a condition that feels safe enough.


And that state doesn’t come from more stimulation.

It comes from the environment around them.


Small changes in environment can shift how a furrykid feels over time.

Not suddenly.

Not dramatically.

But quietly.

Understanding this changes how we respond.
